999
Where has our innocence gone?
it's a different time, it's a different life
and I want change
when we speak, we'll speak sincere
shout it out from the rooftops
so the ones in the back can hear
and it makes you wonder if you're doing it right
yeah, it makes you wonder if you're doing it right
I'm pushing through all the sound
I can't get through
don't bring me down
I'm pushing through all the sound
I can't get through
don't bleed it

I'm pushing through all the sound
I can't get through
don't bring me down
I'm pushing through all the sound
I can't get through
don't bleed it
and I'm ready to rock steady
the love we had was more and more
the world is burning
so many dying
my head is underwater, there's no cure
sands under the hourglass
it's all running, they're all running now
all we have is now, all we have is now, all we have is
I'm pushing through all the sound
I can't get through
don't bring me down
I'm pushing through all the sound
I can't get through
don't bleed it

We had some guitar parts down and Crawford started messing around with vocals over it. He kind of jokingly sang "999" in this Glenn Danzig sort of style and we all loved it.
We recorded this in December 2020 when Covid was at a peak. We tried to be as safe as possible, but two band members and one of the producers came down with Covid during the sessions. Thankfully everybody was okay.
As we were writing and recording it, we started noticing the numbers 999 everywhere. It was like it was following us. Coincidentally, the final version of this track ended up being 3 min. 33 seconds long.
